Residents come to the caring environment of Nicholas
Rothwell House from all religious denominations and from
a variety of backgrounds, perhaps when their relatives are on holiday,
or when they have had a minor mishap at home and are unable to care
for themselves. Some stay when they have been discharged from hospital
to enable them to become stronger, before returning home to cope
alone. Others stay prior to finding permanent care accommodation.
The length of stay varies from 1 - 6 weeks.
Nicholas Rothwell House is not a Nursing
Home, District Nurses visit when required. It is registered for
physically disabled persons as well as for the elderly. The caring
staff are fully trained care assistants and are available 24 hours
a day. Help is always on hand to bath and dress residents if required.
A team of trained care assistants are supported by domestic, laundry,
catering and admin staff.
The residents can enjoy a large day room, which includes the dining
area. It has picture windows looking out on to the terrace and garden
and is also used for social events and activities even including
armchair aerobics!
The freshly made meals are prepared in the House's own kitchen to
a high standard. Breakfast is taken at leisure in their room enabling
them to prepare for the day in their own time. Morning tea or coffee
is available and lunch provides a choice of menu. Afternoon tea,
with the House's popular home-made cakes is served mid afternoon.
Finally supper completes the day with a hot drink served before
bedtime. Special diets, including vegetarian, are faithfully observed.
Visitors are always welcome at any time and lunches and refreshments
are available to them at reasonable prices.
If residents wish to visit nearby shops arrangements can be made.
Additional facilities for the residents include a visiting chiropodist,
dentist, and optician while there is a small salon for the visiting
hairdresser.
